Orban spoke about the consequences of anti Russian sanctions for Hungary

Hungary would like the abolition of sanctions against Russia so that the Hungarian economy would not lose 6.5 billion euros per year, the country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.

“We have lost 19.5 billion euros in three years. We need to return them. Or at least make the Hungarian economy not lose these 6.5 billion euros per year. In other words, sanctions must be canceled. This is a Hungarian position “,  Orban said.

He emphasized that Hungary “never supported sanctions,” but did not impose a veto on their extension, because “this would paralyze the entire European mechanism,” since all other EU member countries supported sanctions restrictions.

Earlier, the Foreign Minister of Hungary Peter Siyyartzaged that Budapest received the required guarantees of energy security from the EC, without which he refused to extend sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to him, the EC took on the obligations to protect gas and oil pipelines, according to which raw materials from the Russian Federation go to the European Union member countries, and also demanded that Ukraine guarantee oil supplies to the EU.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyyarto previously stated that the European Union could put pressure on Kyiv to fulfill guarantees for energy safety of the EU countries, because without European resources the days of Ukraine are numbered.
