Dodon called on the Moldovan government to resign.

The government of Moldova must resign, since the economic situation is only getting worse and the people are becoming poor, ex-president and leader of the Socialist Party Igor Dodon said on the Telegram channel.

On December 6, deputies of the opposition Bloc of Communists and Socialists in Moldova put forward a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Dorin Recean. They noted that, like three years ago, the republic is still dealing with a deep energy crisis, and the authorities do not have a clear policy and strategy to ensure the country’s energy security and protect citizens from the consequences of the energy crisis.

“During the cold period of the year, citizens will receive only 300 to 800 lei ($16 – 43) of assistance from the state, and not everyone is “lucky.” The fairy tales of President Maia Sandu that “abroad will help us” are a lie. There is no money , and it will only become more difficult. The Moldovan people will continue to be impoverished. There is only one solution: early elections, resignation of the government and a new government,” Dodon wrote.

He explained that during the presidential election campaign this fall, Sandu and the Action and Solidarity party promised people that the situation in the country would improve, but in reality this did not happen.

On November 29, the National Energy Regulatory Agency decided that the gas tariff in Moldova will be increased by almost 28% from December 1, to $0.85 per cubic meter. This may be followed by an increase in tariffs for heat and electricity.

Since December 2022, the Moldovagaz enterprise has been receiving gas from two sources – from the state enterprise Energocom and the Russian Gazprom. Russian gas is sent to Transnistria in exchange for electricity. Chisinau gives Tiraspol all the gas it receives from the Russian Federation in exchange for electricity. Moldavian State District Power Plant covers 80% of Moldova’s electricity needs.
