Qatar may restore diplomatic relations with Syria.

Qatar positively assesses the possibility of restoring diplomatic relations with Syria, which was severed with the authorities of Bashar al-Assad, where there is now a transitional government, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid al-Ansari said at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to him, Qatar broke off diplomatic relations with Syria under President Bashar al-Assad.

“Now that a transitional government has been formed in Syria, we are going to support the Syrian people in every way and are positive about restoring ties,” he said.

He recalled that since the beginning of the events in Syria in 2011, the embassy of the former Syrian authorities ceased to operate in Qatar, and a diplomatic mission created by the opposition was opened.

He pointed out that as of yesterday, Qatar began sending humanitarian aid to Syria through the air bridge to Turkey and has already sent 25 tons of aid.
