“There is a need for accelerated implementation of generative AI across the entire department: from analysts to fighters and financial managers,” the US Department of Defense said in a distributed report.

According to the department, this approach will increase the effectiveness of the Pentagon. In this regard, four pilot projects are proposed: two related to the use of AI in combat conditions, and two more for managing structures, the report says.

The department proposes to conduct pilot projects and experiments within 90 days, calling the initiative the first of its kind in the application of AI in the defense sector.
