Szijjarto accused the EU of violating Hungary’s sovereignty.

Brussels is seriously violating Hungary’s sovereignty by insisting that Budapest allow migrants in,  the country’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said.

“The way Brussels is behaving now is a serious violation of our security and sovereignty because they want us to let people in that we don’t want to let in. We don’t want people who attack our police. We don’t want them in our country people who attack our border guards, who cannot respect our rules and who show no respect for our people, our way of life or our laws,” Szijjártó said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Speaking about sending migrants from Hungary to Brussels by bus, he noted that “this must be done” so that Belgium, like other countries, understands what the European Union is doing.

“The ability to defend your own borders and decide who to let into your country is a matter of sovereignty, and no one has the right to take that away,” Szijjártó stressed.
