Wang Yi called promoting relations with Japan a shared responsibility.

Promoting strategic mutually beneficial relations between Beijing and Tokyo is a shared responsibility of both sides, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Yoko Kamikawa on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

“The comprehensive promotion of China-Japan strategic mutually beneficial relations is the shared responsibility of both sides. We hope that Japan will move forward to meet China halfway, guide bilateral relations in the right direction, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Japan relations,” Wang Yi said, as quoted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Yoko Kamikawa, in turn, noted that “facing growing risks and challenges in the international situation, China and Japan must maintain contacts and dialogue in all areas and at all levels.”
