The death toll from a bridge collapse in northwestern China has risen to 12 people, China Central Television reports.

“As of 12:00 on July 20, during the search and rescue operation, seven vehicles that had fallen into the river and 12 dead were discovered, one person was rescued,” the publication says.


At the same time, 18 vehicles and 31 people remain missing.

A road bridge in Zhashui County, Shanluo City, Shaanxi Province collapsed yesterday evening due to heavy rains. As a result, 17 cars and eight trucks fell into the river.
