More than 300 thousand fans signed an online petition for a replay of the quarterfinal match of the European Football Championship between the national teams of Spain and Germany, according to the website of the Change.org platform.

On Friday, Spain beat the Germans 2-1 in extra time. In the 106th minute of the match, with the score 1:1, Germany midfielder Jamal Musiala hit the ball in the hand of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella, who was in his own penalty area. The chief referee of the match, Englishman Anthony Taylor, did not award a penalty for this episode.

After the match, fans created a petition demanding a replay of the match. It states that during the match there were “numerous potentially incorrect decisions” made by Taylor. The initiator of the petition gives examples of refereeing errors, including the episode with Cucurella’s hand in his own penalty area.

In the semi-finals of the European Football Championship, three-time European champions the Spaniards will play on July 9 in Munich with the two-time tournament winners the French. In the other semi-final, the Netherlands, who won the tournament in 1988, will compete against the finalists of the last Euro, the British, who have never become European champions. The meeting will take place on July 10 in Dortmund.
