Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on his Twitter account that it is important not to let political ambitions spoil relations between the peoples of Ukraine and Poland, while stressing that emotions should not prevail over the fundamental interests of the peoples.

On Monday, Polish Ambassador Bartosz Cichocki was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry after the words of the Minister of the Office of the President of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, about Kyiv’s ingratitude for help from Warsaw. According to the Ukrainian publication Evropeyska Pravda, Przydach said in an interview with Polish media that Kiev received huge support from Warsaw and that Ukraine should begin to appreciate the role that Poland has played for Ukraine over the past months and years. The Polish Foreign Ministry later reported that the Acting Ambassador of Ukraine, in turn, was summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry in connection with “statements by the Ukrainian authorities.”
⠀
“We really appreciate the historical support of Poland, which together with us has become a real shield of Europe – from sea to sea. And there can be no crack in this shield. We will not let any political moments spoil relations between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples, and emotions definitely need to cool down “Zelensky wrote.
⠀
According to him, various signals and “currents” are now noticeable, in which politics sometimes tries to be above the unity of peoples, and emotions – above their fundamental interests.

As Steel reported earlier, during a meeting with Tsikhotsky at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, it was announced that statements about Ukraine’s alleged ingratitude for Poland’s help “do not correspond to reality and are unacceptable.” The Ukrainian ministry said that politics should not call into question the mutual understanding and strength of relations between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.
