China to vaccinate 50 million people for Lunar New Year

China’s government has reported on mass vaccination for high-priority groups aims to curb the COVID-19 infection. By Lunar New Year, Beijing planned to vaccinate at least 50 million people, TheGlobeAndMail reported.

The mass inoculation aimed at reducing the risks of the spread of the novel pathogen during the annual week-long holiday in China. Before the start of the peak Lunar New Year travel season early next year, the authorities are planning to distribute 100 million doses of the vaccines made by Chinese firms Sinopharm and Sinovac Biotech Ltd.

This month, China has granted emergency-use status to two candidate vaccines developed by Sinopharm and Sinovac Biotech.

China continues mass inoculation against COVID-19

The Chinese government has rolled out the plan on mass vaccination to be made by Jan. 15 and the second by Feb. 5. In the frame of that ambitious medical programme, the officials have been asked to complete the first 50 million doses.

The high-priority group includes health workers, police officers, firefighters, customs officers, cargo handlers, transport and logistics workers.
