Beijing has spoken out against double standards in international law.

China opposes double standards and selective application of international law. The corresponding statement was made at a briefing by Chinese Foreign Minister speaker Lin Jian, commenting on the US reaction to the decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to arrest the Prime Minister and former head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, as well as a similar decision regarding the Russian President.

“China has always opposed the use of international law by individual countries for their own purposes, the refusal to comply with it and the application of double standards. I would like to emphasize that China has always advocated that the ICC adheres to an objective and fair position, exercise its functions and powers in accordance with the law,” the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized.

He also pointed out Washington’s use of double standards in the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict at the UN international platform.

“The United States single-handedly used its veto power to block the draft ceasefire resolution in the Gaza Strip, thwarting the efforts of the Security Council and the international community. This strengthened the international community’s understanding of the double standards followed by the United States, “Lin Jian said.

Earlier, the United States blocked a draft resolution prepared by the “ten” non-permanent members of the Security Council demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Thus, Washington has already failed five times since October last year to pass a Security Council resolution stipulating the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the enclave. The United States also opposed Palestine’s admission as a full member of the UN.
