Saudi Arabia, one of the powerful global supporters of COVID-19 vaccine’s developing, will be “one of the first” to procure a future antivirus drug.
Amid coronacrisis, Saudi Arabia remains part of the international community to support the creation and development of the anti-COVID drug. According to said Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah, the supervisor general of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), now Saudi Arabia will be one of the first countries to procure the vaccine, enough for its population.
Ahead of the G20 Riyadh Summit this weekend, the recent virtual media briefing “G20 Saudi Leadership: Challenges and Achievements” took place. Commenting on the issue of vaccine and its R&D, Al-Rabeeah outlined the range of efforts taken by international fora.
In its efforts to curb the coronavirus and to accelerate the vaccine development, Saudi Arabia’s government has established a high-level and well-experienced committee.
This weekend, the Middle Eastern country holds the 2020 presidency of the G20, which rotates among members. The Kingdom is hosting the G20 summit from November 21 to November 22.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Riyadh summit is being held virtually, with leaders and ministers attending via webcam.
