Norway’s number of COVID patients on ventilators falls to zero

The Norwegian Directorate of Health confirmed zero COVID-19 patients on ventilators. For the first time since March 10th, the doctors have no reason to use that complex equipment while curing the novel pathogen in hospitals.

Helsedirektoratet (Directorate of Health) issued the statement on Monday, in which declares the milestone in the fighting against COVID in the country. Zero COVID patients on ventilators became the most inspiring news since mid-March, in fact. That is the landmark in Norway’s battle against the epidemic, The Local Norway reports on Tuesday.

Commenting on the general situation across the country, the health directorate reported a total of six people to remain hospitalised with coronavirus, the disease that results from the virus, as of Monday. None of the six is on ventilators but one is admitted to an intensive care unit, according to news agency NTB.

All hospitalisations are in the southeastern part of the country.

Since the first case of coronavirus was recorded in Norway at the end of February, a total of 8,981 people have tested positive for the virus. In general, the Nordic country has suffered 253 deaths, according to Helsedirektoratet figures updated on July 13.
