Queen Letizia joins the Chinese President, the first lady for a gala dinner in Spain

Queen Letizia was the epitome of a Queen when she joined the Chinese leader and his wife the gala dinner evening on Wednesday. The 46-year-old Spanish Queen opted the black velvet dress and looked effortlessly chic and elegant.

The Queen of Spain together with King Felipe VI have warmly welcomed President of China Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan, the first lady, for a gala dinner. Last night, the Royal Palace’s doors were opened for the very important persons, among them was the Spanish prime minister and his wife.

The dinner this evening will celebrate the Chinese couple’s visitors’ final evening in Madrid as they come to the end of their two-day tour. Both couples’ outfits were extremely well-coordinated, Queen Letizia looked typically elegant in a floor-length black velvet gown for the banquet, while Peng Liyuan opted the monochromatic dress.

The dinner was held at the Royal Palace, earlier Letizia joined her husband and their guests for a visit to the Royal Theatre. Dinner’s guests put on an equally elegant display with the Chinese leader wearing a formal jacket and trousers and his wife looked graceful in a monochrome floor-length gown.

Queen’s dress had a hint of Hollywood in the form of diamante cuffs and naturally the crowning glory was the royal consort’s tiara. For gala event, Letizia opted for the Diamond and Pearl tiara of Queen Maria Christina previously favoured by her mother-in-law Queen Sofia.

She could also be seen wearing the sash of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III as is customary during ceremonial engagements.

King Felipe, 50, looked suitably dapper in black tie and could be seen wearing the same sash as his wife. The foursome posed for official photos together before proceeding to the dining room for tonight’s dinner.
