FDA to certify contraceptive implants next month: Philippines health ministry

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has almost finished the certification process for the contraceptive implants Implanon and Implanon NXT. In August, Department will come out with a certification on their safety and efficacy of these innovated subdermal implants.

The Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial announced on Friday that the subdermal innovative implants Implanon and Implanon NXT will be certified next month. These unique contraceptive implants are very important to the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Law, which got the support of President Duterte in the Philippines.

“It is being worked on. Maybe before the end of August, the guidelines will be out. We will have one public hearing then issue certification,”

the Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial added.
