Madonna is the queen of a scandal, and the pop diva knows very well how to create a shocking video. Her career started in 80s thanks to singer’s ability to a bad girl, indeed. That’s why recent Pepsi commercial and Kendall Jenner’s participation didn’t impress Madonna at all.
Madonna precisely knows what she’s doing, in her private and professional life, sometimes, her young and inexperienced colleagues repeat diva’s skills to make a scandal for gaining the popularity. The recent Pepsi advertisement was under fire around the world for being just tone-deaf.
In Pepsi video Kendall Jenner, who’s taking part in a photoset nearby the street protests, joins the protest and gives a riot police officer a can of Pepsi, bringing the political unrest to an end. The irony is in the reaction to this ad, which drew the ire and derision of the Internet immediately. Pepsi pulled the plug on it and apologised for having “missed the mark,” but it was too late.
Madonna made a not-so-subtle dig at the Pepsi ad, she wrote:
“When you wake up and realize that S*** just really doesn’t make sense Side note: My Pepsi commercial was pulled 30 years ago because I was kissing a black saint! 👼🏾 #ironic,”
the pop diva mused.
Madonna and her 1989 scandalous video
Madonna never was a good girl, especially in the early years of her career, Pepsi and Madonna has a long history of relations as well. Back in 1989, Pepsi recalled its two-minute TV ad featuring Madonna singing and dancing after her music video for “Like a Prayer” attracted criticism from religious groups due to its inclusion of religious imagery.
That scandalous video featured burning crosses and the seduction of a saint, and some people mistakenly assumed the video was part of the Pepsi ad. Was it really mistakable to queue these two video one by another in the TV air? Pepsi likes to be in the centre of a scandal, it is obviously.
Madonna’s shade-throwing didn’t end there. The pop star shared a throwback pic of herself holding a can of Coca-Cola at the 1999 Grammy Awards.
