China is ready, together with Belarus, to defend international impartiality and justice, Chinese President Xi Jinping said during a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing.

“(China) is ready, together with Belarus, to promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, and to defend international impartiality and justice,” China Central Television quoted the Chinese leader as saying.

Xi Jinping stressed that China is ready to maintain close cooperation with Belarus and carry out mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in investment, trade, economic and other areas.

The head of the PRC also noted that Minsk has always provided China with strong support on issues affecting its core interests, and “China highly appreciates this.”

The last time Lukashenko visited China was on February 28 – March 2 this year. According to First Deputy Prime Minister of the Belarusian Government Nikolai Snopkov, the economic effect of the agreements reached and formalized during the visit exceeded $3.5 billion.

According to the Ministry of Economy of Belarus, in 2022 Belarusian-Chinese trade turnover reached a record $5.8 billion. Exports of Belarusian goods to China almost doubled and amounted to $1.6 billion.

At the end of 2022, Chinese investors invested over $100 million in the implementation of projects in Belarus.
