US forces launched an airstrike on Syria

The Central Command of the US armed Forces announced on the social network X that an airstrike had been carried out in Syria, as a result of which a high-ranking coordinator of the leadership of the Islamist group Hurras al-Din, which has links to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, was eliminated.

“On February 21, the forces of the Central command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) conducted a targeted airstrike in northwestern Syria, killing Wasim Tahsin Bayrakdar, a high-ranking coordinator of the leadership of the terrorist organization Hurras al-Din, which has links to al-Qaeda,” the command said in a statement.

Hurras al-Din is one of the offshoots of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization, which operates in Syria, promoting radical Islamist ideology. According to the United States, the group is actively involved in hostilities, threatening stability and security in the region.
