Türkiye has stopped diplomatic relations with Israel, the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
⠀
“We, as the state and government of the Republic of Turkey, have severed relations with Israel. At the moment, we do not have any relations with Israel,” he stressed.
⠀
Erdogan added that Ankara is not taking any steps to develop cooperation in the future.
⠀
Since the very beginning of the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Türkiye has condemned the actions of Tel Aviv and accused it of massacres of Palestinian civilians. The country has repeatedly called for a ceasefire and also put pressure on the Jewish state.
⠀
In particular, in early May, the Turkish Ministry of Trade announced a complete cessation of trade with Israel. Before this, Ankara limited the export of 54 subgroups of goods, but the IDF continued fighting in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also been personally criticized more than once. Thus, his speech in the US Congress in July of this year caused not only anti-war protests at the Capitol, but also a harsh reaction from Turkish politicians, including Erdogan, who called the head of the Israeli Cabinet “a butcher, on whose hands is the blood of 150 thousand Gazans.” Previously, he also called Netanyahu a “modern Fuhrer,” emphasizing that the West ignores his crimes.
