Former US President Donald Trump again missed the Republican election debates and, in defiance of them, held a rally of thousands in the same state of Florida.
⠀
Trump explains his refusal to spar with fellow party members by his clear rating advantage over them and expresses his readiness to discuss only with the winner of the democratic primaries, where current American leader Joe Biden is considered the favorite.
⠀
“I’m standing in front of tens of thousands of people now… And it’s a hell of a lot harder than being in a debate,” Trump said.
⠀
The third debate brought together five contenders for the Republican presidential nomination – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former US Ambassador to the UN Nicky Haley, Senator Tim Scott and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
⠀
Former US Vice President Mike Pence, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson have already dropped out of the election race.
⠀
At his rally, Trump went through a traditional set of topics and expressed confidence in victory in the upcoming elections.
⠀
“Rogue Joe Biden’s banana republic will come to an end on November 5, 2024,” he said.
⠀
The ex-president called the criminal charges brought against him “magnificent insignia.”
⠀
NBC, which hosted the debate this time, reported that the Biden campaign mainly watched Trump’s speech because they found the other Republican candidates boring.
