Trump has vowed to deport migrants from Springfield.

Republican presidential candidate and former head of the White House Donald Trump promised to deprive Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio of temporary protected status and deport them to their homeland if he wins the election in November.

Earlier, a scandal erupted in the United States due to statements by Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance and Trump that migrants from Haiti were allegedly kidnapping and eating pets in Springfield.

“What’s happening there (in Springfield) is terrible… It doesn’t work, it has nothing to do with hate, it just doesn’t work… Absolutely, I would cancel (temporary protected status) and return them (Haitian migrants) ) to his country,” the politician said.

Earlier, Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance said that Haitian migrants were allegedly kidnapping and eating pets in Springfield. His fellow party member and US presidential candidate Donald Trump later repeated this thesis during the election debate. Haitian authorities have called such statements against migrants from their country discriminatory. US President Joe Biden also condemned the words of Vance and Trump.

Vance responded to the backlash by declaring that he was personally willing to “make up stories” of similar content in order to attract media attention to the problems of Americans, having recently reposted a video on social network X of supposedly migrants frying cats in the city of Dayton, Ohio. The son of US presidential candidate Donald Trump Jr. also shared the same video on his page.

Springfield police said there was no evidence of migrants eating pets.
