The Colombian President has called for the sale of some embassy residences.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro said on social media X that the embassy residences in Mexico, Switzerland and Belgium should be sold because they are too luxurious.

“I have seen embassy residences that are more spacious and luxurious than our small embassies and consulates, which cannot provide adequate attention to Colombians. Houses and palaces that are used as residences in Switzerland, Mexico, Brussels should be sold to expand the embassies and consulates “, Petro wrote on the social network X.

The president also posted a photo of a spacious room at the ambassador’s residence in Mexico City.

“This is what the residence of someone who holds the post of ambassador to Mexico looks like, while the embassy and consulate do not have enough space to receive Colombians,” he commented on the photo.
