The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco, America, has temporarily suspended the work of the visa department after an incident with a car that crashed into the diplomatic mission building, the Consulate General said in a statement on the WeChat social network.

“The visa department of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco has been temporarily closed since October 10, 2023,” a statement on the official account of the diplomatic mission states.

Earlier, CBS reported that one person was shot dead in the American city of San Francisco in California after a car crashed into the Chinese consulate building. At the same time, the Consulate General clarified that the suspect was detained by the police. According to law enforcement officials, the car drove into the lobby of the consulate. The police opened fire on the suspect and injured him. Paramedics and law enforcement then administered first aid to him and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he died.


Earlier, the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco reported that it had made a serious representation to the United States due to the incident with the car damaging the building and demanded that the American side find out the real picture of what happened as soon as possible.
