The Venezuelan authorities accused the opposition of attempting a coup.

The Venezuelan opposition is attempting a coup in the country with the support of the West, the authorities are calling on all parties for dialogue, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said.

“We are in a situation of a coup d’état carried out by the far right with the support of the US imperialists and their allies and lackeys. President Nicolas Maduro is challenging to stop it, along with the people who elected him, the armed forces and democratic institutions,” the minister said.

“We will defeat this coup again,” he added.

Padrino Lopez noted that this is a moment when it is necessary to salute the people who peacefully made their choice in the elections.

“I call on all political forces… to take the path of democracy and the constitution… (Maduro) has already called for dialogue,” the minister said.
