The US senator called the accusation against Trump a disgrace to the constitution.

US Senator James David Vance, in his X account, called the indictment in the case against former US President Donald Trump for falsifying business records a disgrace to the constitution and interference in elections.

A jury previously returned guilty verdicts on all 34 counts against Trump in the falsification of business records case. The politician has the right to appeal this decision; it does not deprive him of the right to participate in presidential elections. The verdict in the case will be announced on July 11. Trump will become the first former US president to be convicted in a criminal case.

“This decision is a disgrace to the rule of law and our Constitution. Democrats fabricated a felony to ‘get at Trump’… This is not justice, this is election interference,” Vance wrote.

After the guilty verdict, Trump himself declared himself a political prisoner.
