The US launched strikes on IRGC targets in Syria.

The United States carried out strikes on two sites in Syria that were used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and pro-Iranian groups, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said.

“On President Biden’s orders, U.S. forces conducted a self-defense strike against two sites in western Syria that were being used by the IRGC and its affiliated groups,” Austin said in a statement.

As Reuters reports, citing a source in the Pentagon, the targets of attacks by American F-16 fighters in Syria were warehouses with weapons and ammunition.

The strikes, according to Austin, are not related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and do not mean a change in Washington’s policy. He called them a response to attacks against Americans in Iraq and Syria that began on October 17, leaving one Pentagon contractor dead and 21 others slightly wounded.

The day before, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, addressing US government officials, warned that if the massacres in the Gaza Strip do not stop, the flames of conflict will not spare anyone.

Abdollahian also said that the United States is a direct participant in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, providing financial and military support to Tel Aviv.
