The UK is introducing a complete ban on using phones in schools.

School leaders in the UK are introducing a complete ban on the use of mobile phones in schools, including permission to search pupils’ backpacks, in a bid to improve discipline in schools.

It is noted that students who violate the ban face being left after school, as well as having their phones confiscated for as long as the school principal deems it necessary. The new rules also give teachers the right to search backpacks and provide legal protection from lawsuits by parents for loss or damage to confiscated devices.

According to the guidance, schools are offered four different approaches to ensure compliance with the guidance. The “simplest” option is a complete ban on the use of telephones on school grounds, with students encouraged to leave them at home. The second and third options include handing over phones to staff or leaving them in designated lockers during classes. The fourth approach allows you to keep your phones on your person, but only under the “strict condition that they will not be used, seen or heard.”
