The Sudanese RRF declared full control over the province of Central Darfur.

The Sudanese RRF declared full control over the province of Central Darfur.

The Sudan Rapid Reaction Force (SRF, paramilitaries) said they have full control of the province of Central Darfur in the west of the country.

“We, the Rapid Reaction Force, have full control of Central Darfur Province,” RRF Commander Ali Yacoub Jibril said in a video posted by the formations on social media.

In addition, the RRF also posted a video stating that the Civil Administration of Central Darfur claims support for the RRF.

The Sudanese Armed Forces have not yet made any statements about Central Darfur.

At the end of July, the parties to the conflict in Sudan – the armed forces and the RRF – stopped negotiations that had been taking place since May in Saudi Jeddah.

Since April 15, fighting has been going on in Sudan between the RRF under the command of Mohammed Hamdan Daglo and the regular army. The parties exchange conflicting statements about the successes in military operations and control over objects, having launched a large-scale information war in the media and social networks. According to the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than three million people are internally displaced in Sudan, 926,000 have left the country since the start of the conflict.
