The Social Democratic Party won the elections to the European Parliament in Sweden.

The Social Democratic Party won the elections to the European Parliament in Sweden.

The Social Democratic Workers’ Party won the European Parliament elections in Sweden with 24.9% of the vote after 94% of the ballots were counted, SVT TV reported on Monday.

The Social Democrats will receive 5 seats in the EP out of 21. It is followed by the Moderate Coalition Party with 17.6% (4 seats). In third place is the Green Party with 13.8% (3 seats). The Sweden Democrats won 13.2% of the vote and will also receive 3 seats in the EP.

The “Left Party” and the “Center Party” have two mandates. The Christian Democrats and Liberals get two seats each.

The Green Party and the Left Party improved their positions compared to the EP elections in 2019, gaining one more seat each. The Christian Democrats lost one mandate compared to the 2019 elections.

This election was a “historic failure” for the Sweden Democrats. The drop in ratings is exlplained by the fact that the central theme of the party’s election campaign was migration, which is not such an important issue for voters.
