Polish President Andrzej Duda is convening a meeting of the National Security Council due to the shooting of Polish soldiers at migrants on the border with Belarus, the head of state told reporters on Thursday.

Earlier, a scandal in Poland was caused by footage published by Polish media showing handcuffed military personnel who were detained for shooting at those trying to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border.

“On Monday the elections (of members of the European Parliament) will end, and I would like the National Security Council to take place in the afternoon – I will convene it, most likely at 16.00,” Duda said.

He clarified that the topic of the meeting would be information about the shooting by Polish soldiers at illegal migrants on the border with Belarus.
