The recognition of Palestine as a state by a number of countries is an act of justice and at the same time a serious signal for Israel, Bolivian President Luis Arce said.

Ireland, Norway and Spain officially recognized the State of Palestine on May 28. Also in early June, the Slovenian parliament adopted a decree recognizing the Palestinian state. Before this, Palestine was recognized by nine EU countries. Eight countries – Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Romania and Slovakia – took this step in 1988, before joining the EU, and Sweden in 2014.

“I believe that this is, first of all, an act of justice. Palestine is a state that was not recognized as such, and, unfortunately, UN resolutions are not being implemented. I think this is also a call to ensure that this genocide that is happening there, stopped,” Arce said.
⠀
“This is not only a fair recognition, but the Israeli government is under greater pressure because all countries are now showing a clear tendency to rather create a favorable climate for Palestine. The war leads to the opposite, not to what was expected, not to the disappearance of Palestine,” the president added.
⠀
He recalled the actions of support around the world for the Palestinian people.
⠀
“So I believe that this is a serious signal for the Israeli government and an act of justice for a people who have long deserved recognition as a state,” Arce said.

An immediate ceasefire and a search for peace through the UN or another organization that can mediate is necessary, he said, so that the whole world can help in the reconstruction of Palestine, which will require the cooperation of the entire planet.
