The risk of international conflict involving the great powers is growing, said Mark Milley, head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.
⠀
Addressing the graduates of the West Point Military Academy, he urged them to prepare for such a development.
⠀
“The world into which you are graduating has the potential for major international conflict involving the great powers. And that likelihood is increasing, not decreasing,” Milley said.
⠀
The American general during his speech attributed Russia and China to the world powers.
⠀
“Now we are facing two world powers, Russia and China, each of which has significant military capabilities and is serious about changing the current rules based on order,” he said.
⠀
As previously reported in the Russian Defense Ministry, at the initiative of the American side, Mark Milli had a telephone conversation with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. The parties discussed several issues, including the situation in Ukraine, and agreed to keep lines of communication open.
