The Organizing Committee of the Games spoke about the situation with thefts in the Olympic Village.

The police are investigating cases of thefts in the Olympic Village in Paris, and the Olympic organizing committee supports the injured athletes in these situations, Anne Descamps, director of communications for the Olympic organizing committee, said at a briefing.

On Tuesday it became known that the Olympic village in Saint-Denis, which can accommodate 9,000 athletes, had received five reports of theft since the start of the Games. According to the source, one of the victims was Australian field hockey coach Colin Batch, who on Saturday filed a police report about the theft of his bank card number and its fraudulent use in the amount of about 900 euros. On Sunday, a member of the Japanese national rugby team reported the theft of a wedding ring, necklace and cash totaling €3,000.

“The police are looking into these incidents, we support the athletes in the process (of investigations). The village is well guarded, there are about 80 cameras, we are trying to make sure that it is a safe place for the athletes and we support them,” Descam said when asked about the thefts in the village and the progress of the investigation.

The Olympics runs from July 26 to August 11.
