The NATO Secretary General acknowledged the difficult situation at the front for Ukraine.

For the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a difficult situation has developed at the front, despite the supply of weapons and other NATO assistance,  Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, answering a question about the lack of progress in the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

“We are now seeing intense fighting. The situation along the entire front line, especially in the east, is very difficult, we see a high level of losses <…> against the backdrop of an unchanged front line,” he said on the eve of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries included in the military bloc.

The Alliance Secretary General noted that NATO continues to help Ukraine. At the same time, he called it unacceptable for Kyiv and its Western allies to “underestimate Russia.”

“Everything we see, even with this significant support, has not led to a significant change in the front line, which shows that we should not underestimate Russia,” Stoltenberg said.
