The Minister of Education of Georgia has resigned.

Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Giorgi Amilakhvari resigned. The press service of the Georgian government reported this.

“I want to thank Giorgi Amilakhvari for his fruitful work as the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. During his work as minister, many changes took place in the ministry. The resignation of Giorgi Amilakhvari is a great loss for the government of Georgia and the entire ruling team,” the press-service quotes the speech by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on the occasion of Amilakhvari’s resignation.

As noted in the government statement, Amilakhvari left politics and went to work in the private sector. It is not yet known who will replace him as minister.

Amilakhvari has served as Minister of Education since March 2023. Before that, he was chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the Georgian Parliament.
