The Italian admiral was elected as the new head of the NATO military committee.

The Chief of Staff of the Italian Armed Forces, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, was elected on Saturday as the new chairman of the NATO military committee; he will take this post in six months, according to a statement following a meeting of the alliance’s chiefs of general staff in Oslo.

At the same meeting, it was decided to retain the current chairman of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, for another six months.

“On September 16, 2023, the chiefs of general staff of NATO countries agreed to extend the mandate of the current chairman of the military committee, Rob Bauer, for another six months and to elect as his successor the chief of staff of the Italian armed forces, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone,” a statement on the alliance’s website says.
