The head of the Italian Defense Ministry, Guido Crosetto, who was hospitalized on Tuesday, will stay in a Roman hospital until the end of the week, according to a statement published on the website of the defense department.

“Although the clinical picture and ongoing examinations do not raise any concerns, the minister will remain in the hospital for a few more days only as a precautionary measure,” the statement said.

The day before it became known that Crosetto was taken to the hospital by ambulance; he became ill during a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council of the country. According to a statement on the Ministry of Defense website, which quotes the words of the head of the cardiology department, Giuseppe Speziale, the examination revealed that the minister had a new episode of pericarditis, that is, an inflammatory lesion of the tissue membrane of the heart.

It is noted that the minister’s stay in the hospital will last until the end of the week.

According to the statement, the new episode manifested itself in a much more painful form than the one in February, and now the minister’s condition is “noticeably improving.”
