The German Foreign Ministry denied statements about Germany by US presidential candidate Donald Trump, who during a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris skeptically assessed Germany’s energy policy, a statement published on the department’s page on the social network X said.
⠀
“Like it or not: Germany’s energy system is fully operational with more than 50% renewable energy. And we are closing – not building – coal and nuclear power plants,” the ministry said.
⠀
The Foreign Ministry added that coal power plants will be disconnected from the network no later than 2038.
⠀
“P.S. We also do not eat cats and dogs,” the department concluded.
⠀
During the debate, Trump said Germany tried for a year to stop building “normal power plants” but then started doing it again. The politician also said that migrants to the United States eat cats and dogs.
⠀
The US presidential elections will take place on November 5th. Trump represents the Republican Party, and Harris represents the Democratic Party.
