Brazil chose the cotton tree as the BRICS logo.

The Brazilian government has unveiled the logo that will be used as part of the country’s BRICS chairmanship; it will be the sumauma cotton tree, which grows in the Amazon rainforest, according to the Brazilian government’s website.

The future logo, published on the government website, is a multi-colored tree depicted on a blue background. The color range of wood includes colors such as red, green, blue, yellow and orange. Under the tree itself is written “BRICS. Brazil 2025” in Latin letters.

“Using as inspiration colors based on the colors of the BRICS flags and the palette of the giant Amazon rainforest, the President of Brazil unveils the logo for the 2025 BRICS Chairmanship,”  a statement published on the country’s government website said.

The statement describes the characteristics of the cottonwood tree, which in nature can reach a height of 60 meters and a width of up to two meters. It is noted that the logo is intended to illustrate the “grandeur of diplomacy” and convey the diplomatic, socio-economic and political greatness of BRICS.

Earlier, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, in an interview with the Estado de Minas newspaper, said that BRICS is approaching the level of the G20 format. He also recalled that from January 1, 2025, the country presides over BRICS.

BRICS is an interstate association created in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil; South Africa joined it in 2011. Russia has held the post of chairman of the organization since January 1, 2024. Since the beginning of 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia have joined BRICS. Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship is held under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security.
