The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who is on a visit to Cyprus, said that the EU, the US and the UAE intend to jointly launch a maritime humanitarian corridor to the Gaza Strip.

“Today we face a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza… The main challenge is the delivery of humanitarian aid directly to the people of Gaza… Therefore, today Cyprus, the European Commission, the United States and the UAE, with the support of other critical partners, announce our intention to launch a sea corridor to deliver additional necessary humanitarian supplies by sea,” she said.
