The current mayor of Chisinau declared victory in the elections.

The current mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, announced that he wins the election for mayor of the Moldovan capital, and his National Alternative Movement (MAN) party receives the largest number of seats in the municipal council.

According to the data indicated on the website of the Central Election Commission, after processing 99.67% of the protocols, Cheban gains 50.58% of the votes. In second place was the representative of the ruling Action and Solidarity party, Lilian Karp, with 28.27% of the votes.

“MAN won in Chisinau. On my own behalf and on behalf of the entire team, I sincerely thank all the residents… According to our calculations, at least 51% of the votes in the municipality should have been for the mayor and 34% for MAN in the Chisinau municipal council,”  Cheban wrote on your page on the social network Facebook.

He thanked all party representatives who monitored the election process in favor of the ruling party.

 

“There were manipulations, fraud and numerous attempts to falsify the elections in favor of the ruling party. This was the longest process of counting votes in any election in recent years. We will make all protocols public,” Cheban added.

 


27 candidates are vying for the post of mayor of the capital of Moldova, the main fight is between Ion Ceban, who is running for a second term, and the representative of the pro-European Action and Solidarity party, Lilian Carp. If, after 100% of the votes are counted, none of the candidates can get more than 50% of the votes in the first round, then the second round of elections will take place on November 19.
