The Constitutional Court in Bulgaria has opened a case challenging the election results.

The Constitutional Court (CC) of Bulgaria has opened a case challenging the results of the elections of the 51st People’s Assembly (Parliament) of the country.

Early elections to the People’s Assembly took place in Bulgaria on October 27. Various political forces voted on their intention to seek full or partial cancellation of the results. Last week, the Greatness party appealed to the Constitutional Court with the idea of annulling the election results. The party, which lacked 21 votes to vote in parliament, announced that it was supported by 58 deputies of the People’s Consent in support of the convocation.

“On November 11, 2024, at the request of 58 deputies of the People’s Assembly of the 50th convocation, the Constitutional Court opened case No. 34/2024 challenging the results of the elections to the People’s Assembly of the 51st convocation,”  a statement on the court’s website says.

The complaint to the Constitutional Court alleged that, according to the prevailing public opinion, the holding of early elections on October 27 was accompanied by various and varied violations, many of which were also criminal in nature.

Previously, the Constitutional Court opened a case regarding the partial cancellation of voting results at 52 polling stations.
