The Chinese Ministry of Defense called NATO the sower of war.

NATO is the “sower of war,” the alliance brings the fire of war and disaster to regions and peoples from Ukraine to Afghanistan, from Iraq to Libya, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said at a briefing on Thursday.

The NATO anniversary summit was held in Washington from July 9 to 11 in honor of the 75th anniversary of the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty in 1949. The summit agenda included three big topics: strengthening the bloc’s role in coordinating and financing military assistance to Ukraine, strengthening collective defense and deterrence to counter Russia, as well as expanding partnerships with Asian countries against the backdrop of growing confrontation between the West and China.

“In recent years, NATO has continued to extend its manipulations to the Asia-Pacific region, targeting China and encouraging some countries in the region to follow its example by engaging in bloc confrontation and artificially creating divisions,” Zhang Xiaogang said.

He emphasized that “NATO is a “sower of war,” bringing the fire of war and disaster to regions and peoples from Ukraine to Afghanistan, from Iraq to Libya.”

“History has proven that creating division and confrontation is unpopular, and militaristic expansion is the path to self-destruction,” he added.
