However, since then, a series of misguided actions and statements by the American side have disrupted the hard-won positive momentum in bilateral relations, relations between the countries again stumbled upon ice,” said Qin Gang, quoted by China Central Television.

The head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that the stabilization of bilateral relations is a top priority.
“(It is necessary) to avoid the downward spiral of relations, as well as the emergence of unforeseen circumstances between countries,” said Qin Gang.

He also noted that China will firmly adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and mutually beneficial cooperation in relations with the United States, as proposed by Xi Jinping.

“We hope that the American side will deeply rethink, will move towards China in order to bring Sino-American relations out of the difficulty and direct them in the right direction,” the diplomat stressed.
