The British Navy has completed repairs to the aircraft carrier Prince of Wales.

The British aircraft carrier Prince of Wales has left the docks after lengthy repairs that cost Britain 25 million pounds, the Times newspaper reported on Saturday, citing the head of the British Navy.

“It (the aircraft carrier) has been repaired,” the publication quotes the words of the head of the Navy, Sir Ben Key.

According to Key, Britain is the only European power whose fleet includes two aircraft carriers.

The Times previously noted that the cost of the repair work had risen to £25 million after both drive shafts were misaligned during the repair, which could lead to excessive vibration and risk of damage.

In October 2022, the aircraft carrier developed a crack in its fuel hose. At the end of August, one of the propellers broke, due to which the ship did not make it to the exercises in the United States and was forced to return to the naval base in Portsmouth with one propeller. In 2020, Prince of Wales was out of service for six months due to flooding in the engine room.
HMS Prince of Wales is the second of Britain’s two £3 billion Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers.

According to the UK Ministry of Defense, the largest ship of the British fleet was more often under repair than at sea.
