Indonesian Defense Minister General Prabowo Subianto leads the country’s presidential elections with 56.8% of the vote, according to a chart published on the website of the Indonesian Election Commission after processing data from more than half of the polling stations.

Subianto said on Wednesday that he considers himself the winner of the presidential elections in Indonesia. It was previously reported that he was leading the election race with 56% of the vote after ballots from 45% of polling stations were processed.

At the same time, the numbers change during the vote counting process, and there remains a possibility that the Minister of Defense will not be able to get more than 50% and will have to go to the second round of elections this summer.

According to data published by the Indonesian Election Commission on its website in the form of a chart, 56.8% of Indonesian voters voted for the country’s defense minister. At the same time, 25.3% voted for the former Minister of Culture and Education Anis Baswedan, and almost 18% – for the ex-governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo. Such preliminary results were obtained after processing data from 50.2% of polling stations.

Indonesia’s presidential election lasted six hours and ended on Wednesday, with the first unofficial results coming in the same day. Independent organizations confirmed Subianto’s leadership with a significant lead over his rivals.
