South Korea called the situation in the country difficult before the New Year.

The Republic of Korea found itself in a difficult situation before the New Year, but the country has overcome more difficult crises. Acting President of the Republic of Korea, Deputy Prime Minister Choi Sang Mok, stated this in his address.

First of all, he expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the plane crash at Muan Airport on December 29, which claimed the lives of 179 people. According to him, the government will direct all efforts to support families, prevent and establish the causes of the tragedy.

“The Republic of Korea finds itself in an unprecedentedly difficult situation,”  Choi Sang Mok said.

We will strengthen solidarity with friendly countries, including the alliance with the United States, cooperation with Japan and the United States in a trilateral format. By strengthening joint defense capabilities with the United States, we will respond to the North Korean nuclear threat and cooperation between Russia and the North,” Choi Sang Mok said.

“Although we are clearly facing a crisis, the Republic of Korea has overcome more serious crises,” Choi Sang Mok said.

On December 3, President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law. On December 14, the parliament impeached the president, and on December 27, Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, who served as acting president until Choi Sang-mok.
