Stoltenberg answered a question about possible nuclear tests by NATO countries.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, amid statements about Russia’s possible withdrawal of ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), said that the alliance countries have no intention of conducting nuclear tests.

“We continue to closely monitor what Russia is doing. So far, we have not seen any changes in the positioning of nuclear weapons that would require changes in our positioning… NATO allies have adhered to nuclear testing provisions for 25 years, we have no plans to resume testing,” he said following the first day of meetings of the heads of NATO defense ministries in Brussels.

On Monday, the executive secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, expressed concern that Russia was taking steps to revoke ratification of the treaty and asked for a meeting with “key leaders” in the Russian Federation.
