Seismologists reported a new earthquake off the coast of the Philippines.

The second earthquake in less than 15 minutes occurred off the coast of the Philippines, its magnitude was 5.7, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reports.

The earthquake was recorded at 18.20 UTC time 133 kilometers east of the city of Butuan with a population of more than 300 thousand people. The outbreak lay at a depth of 62 kilometers.


At 18.09 UTC, the center reported a magnitude 6.2 earthquake at a distance of 161 kilometers east of Butuan. The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of 55 kilometers.


There was no information about possible casualties or damage.

EMSC previously reported an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 recorded off the southeastern coast of the Philippines. The US Tsunami Warning System warned of a tsunami, then canceled the threat.

Seismologists also reported earthquakes of 6.4 and 6.5 off the coast of the Philippines.
