German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the problem of the country’s energy security could not be solved in a short time.
⠀
“We are concerned about the security of our energy supply. This will be the case for the next few weeks, months and years,” he said in a video message posted on the German government website.
⠀
The chancellor added that the federal government had already taken measures to make Germany ready for a deficit, for example, in the gas sector. For this, pipelines and terminals for liquefied natural gas, which is stored in tanks, are being built, and the use of coal-fired power plants is ensured to save gas.
⠀
According to him, Berlin in the long term seeks to become independent of energy imports and increase the share of renewable energy sources. The authorities are also changing legislation at a pace that “has never been seen before in Germany and is necessary.”

Earlier, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said that the country could face serious trials in winter if it fails to fill gas storage facilities and ensure gas supplies.
